Many people don’t know it, but this Friday’s game between the Roswell Hornets and the Lassiter Trojan’s re-unites three players who played together as 8th graders on the phenomenal Walton Raider team that kicked everyone’s football butt that year! Justin Ellis #87, Sheldon Evans #1 of Roswell, and #88 Clark Kent of Lassiter re-unite Friday night, but now on opposite sides of the ball. Sheldon Evans of the Hornets leads all Region 5 AAAAAA rushers with almost 1200 yards / averaging almost 7 yards a carry and #87 Justin Ellis (who is an outstanding athlete in his own right and played QB at Walton) is now a force on defense. Clark Kent of Lassiter is a talented Wide Receiver and is always a highlight film when he is on the field!
THROWBACK (Born-to-Compete VIDEO):

Folks, although Lassiter has had it’s struggles, Russell Aarons #5 of Lassiter leads all Cobb County QB’s in passing (only a couple of yards short of leading all of Region 5 AAAAAA) and Pearson Van Horn #87 leads Cobb County in reception yards and is second only to Andrew Harris of Cherokee in Region 5 AAAAAA!

What a beautiful night for football and Milton High School is a beautiful venue and friendly atmosphere for fans to come out and support their teams. The contest, however, was not so pretty. The Trojans marched into Eagle Stadium and (for a couple of early play series) made it seem like it would be a fight! Unfortunately, for the Trojans, it came apart quickly and they trailed 28 – 0 at the half.
The Trojans were hoping to win this battle and obtain their first win of the year, but now find themselves at 0 – 5 and 0 – 3 in Region 5 AAAAAA. It was all Milton in every phase of the game, the only team this season to hold the Trojan’s high powered offense from scoring. Milton’s dominance was demonstrated with RB #33 Micco Brisker having another stellar night, scoring on a 24-yard and 56-yard run (running through and around Lassiter tacklers) and with a great QB performance by #11 Austin McLeod (who ran and threw the ball seemingly at will), eluding pursuit and keeping plays alive with his feet.
Lassiter punter #16 Mitchell Wasson had a busy night and did an amazing job under pressure when Lassiter frequently was forced to give the ball up on fourth down. Russell Aarons, who came into this game leading Region 5 AAAAAA in passing, ran for his life most of the night and was thwarted by an interception, several dropped passes, and the lack of an efficient run game to keep the defense honest.
The old saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words …” sums up a heartbreaker for what is considered a very talented Trojan team.
GHSA News Online congratulates the Milton Eagles on a “Big” win and wishes the Trojans success in future games. Rosters for both teams are provided below in support for these two great Region 5 AAAAAA teams!

The Milton Eagles Hornets recently were defeated by the Roswell Hornets in a Region 5 AAAAAA battle last week and Lassiter has been enjoying a bye week . Most have the Milton Eagles pegged to win a close battle, but this contest could go either way. In any case, it will be a game you do not want to miss.

If you are a fan of High School Football, you would know that at Milton they are dedicated and committed to “Building an Mpire” – a football empire. The Milton Eagles are well on their way to doing just that! Milton is a very good team and a loss last week to the Roswell Hornets makes them very dangerous. Milton is very well coached by former Pope HS Asst. Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, and Strength/Conditioning Coach, Tony Howie DeCristofaro (bio HERE).
The men of Troy “Trojans”, march into the Eagles nest tomorrow night for a conference game and are ready for battle. Ancient history and legend places great fear on the mention of the word “Trojan” and a contest between the Eagles and the Trojans (coached by Jep Irwin bio Here) will be a close battle in the war for Regional 5 AAAAAA supremacy.
