It’s HOMECOMING at Cherokee High School where the Warriors host the Lassiter Trojans at Tommy Baker Field. Lassiter recently was defeated by the Etowah Eagles in a Region 5 AAAAAA battle last week and has been struggling lately. Cherokee is in a strong position in Region 5, having defeated Pope, Wheeler, and Woodstock. The Trojans of Lassiter have a lot of young talent and much to prove, while Cherokee has a powerful offense and a top QB and Wide Receiver combination.
This Game and Homecoming at Cherokee is an occasion and sports event that you do not want to miss!

Missy Koslowski, GHSA News
Okay Maxwell, the AJC, Maxpreps, etc., I have watched Kell, Hillgrove, and Lassiter play this season. We have scouted the players & coaches at Walton, at Lassiter and most at Hillgrove. At GHSA News, we believe that of these three teams, Lassiter is the most talented.
There are issues, in the pre-season against North Cobb and in the first game at Hillgrove. Adjustments might have been made to both the defense and the offense (quarter-to-quarter) to win these games.
The good thing is GHSA News feels that this can be fixed, the question is – are our assumptions correct? Lassiter has a talented leader in Russell Aarons #5, a Senior. They have an amazing and talented receiver group and even more so at the running back position, with a power runner (WITH SPEED) in Grant Daniels #34, a WATER BUG runner like #20 Mason Waters, and a combination runner in #26 Oris Lawhorn.
Last week Russell Aarons completed passes to 10 different receivers. The offense is capable, but the defense has to make adjustments to stop Kell this week. This is a HUGE test for Lassiter and going into next week’s rivalry game with Walton, they need to make the aforementioned “adjustments” in REAL-TIME / not in hind-sight. The old adage, “The Best Defense is a Good Offense” is true, but a Good and Adjusting Defense gives a young talented offense a chance to win the game.
Lassiter needs to win this game! Walton has a new coach and a less-skilled (overall) roster than Lassiter. If Lassiter hosts Walton at 0 – 2 next week, it will give Walton too much confidence coming in and increase Walton’s chances of a close game or a win.
We believe that the key word for Lassiter is “ADJUSTMENT”. Lassiter has the talent to do better than last year. They need to get to the playoffs (hopefully past the first round) and on-the-way find the chemistry, player combination, and coaching nimbleness to empower this talented team.
On this team there are players who can step-up and become leaders! If they read this article, they know who they are. Step-up, don’t accept losing – encourage and inspire your teammates! Talk to your coaches, speak up on the field, support the guy next to you – “Losing cannot be acceptable to you, a talented team”.
Here are our predictions for Lassiter, knowing what we know:
