If you listen to Woodstock Coach Brent Budde, he will say that he was proud of the way his team fought last night.  The same can be said of Lassiter Coach Jep Irwin.

The Trojans (0-4, 0-2 Region 5 AAAAAA) fell behind early, but kept fighting and cut the lead to 35-21 before halftime. Before last night, no team had scored a touchdown against the Wolverine defense (now 4-0, 2-0 Region 5AAAAAA), but River Ridge, Johns Creek and Wheeler certainly tried. River Ridge was the only one of the three to manage a touchdown, and that came on a kickoff return. The Trojans certainly spoiled that record.

Lassiter forced three Woodstock fumbles, including one on the first play from scrimmage in the second half. Lassiter turned the three turnovers into 14 points and took a 42-38 lead with 8:15 to play in the game.  Outstanding plays were made by #33 Ozi Orjioke, #25 Ben Mostellar (who recovered a fumble and ran it back for 80 yards), #48 Kory Gildea (who recovered a fumble which resulted in a TD), #8 Micah Grigsby, #85 Cole Taylor (shown above in picture provided by MDJ), #20 Mason Waters, # 2 Taz Holt, #24 Tanner Plemmons, and #42 Khari Johnson.  QB Russell Aarons excited the crowd when, after taking the snap – passed to #87 Pearson VanHorn who then threw it back to him for a TD.

The Woodstock Wolverines have a strong group of seniors led by QB, Justin Agner.  Across the board, the Wolverines executed a solid game-plan with great offensive blocking, solid running back performance, and consistent production from their receiver group.

Congrats to the Wolverines for a GREAT game and an unblemished record, joining Lassiter in an off week when they both return 9/26/14 (where Woodstock plays Etowah and Lassiter travels to Milton).
