Roswell came into Milton as a 13 point underdog and left the victor Friday night, in a great example of High School Football. Milton came into the game highly ranked #3 in some polls and only as low as #6 in others. No stats can accurately reflect the intensity of this game and it lived up to being part of “The Great American Rivalry Series“.

In a see saw game, Milton lead 10 – 0 at the end of the first quarter at The Eagles Nest. The Eagles put up a very consistent offensive campaign scoring 7 points in each of the next three quarters and lead 31 – 26 with 3:41 left on the clock. Trailing throughout the night, the Hornets rallied with the help of #1 Sheldon Evans, who had 140 yards on 15 carries & 2 TD’s to cap off his “Player-of-the-Game” performance.

Late in the fourth Milton lead the game, but Roswell mounted a final drive that featured QB #7 James Whitaker (who completed 18 of 39 passes for 192 yards and three TD’s) connecting with #5 Mechane Slade, in a spectacular, juggling / concentration catch in the end-zone to win the game (Slade had 8 catches for 115 yards and two TD’s).

Milton was impressive in their loss, with #33 Micco Brisker having an stellar night with three TD’s that included a 65 yard run. Leading up to last Friday, Milton was off to a fast start with a 24 – 0 shutout of defending champion Norcross. Roswell is now 4 – 1 for the season joining Etowah and Woodstock with unblemished records in Region 5 AAAAAA.
